In Paphos, a 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a road accident; the car driver has been detained
A serious road accident involving a car and a motorcycle occurred in Paphos. According to police, the crash happened on Tassos Papadopoulos Avenue. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
The 23-year-old motorcyclist sustained severe injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Paphos Hospital, but despite doctors’ efforts, he died shortly after being hospitalized.
As part of the investigation, police detained the 41-year-old car driver under a court warrant. It is also reported that he was arrested on suspicion of illegally staying on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
The breathalyzer test showed a negative result, but a preliminary drug test was positive. Samples were taken from the man for final laboratory analysis.
The investigation is being continued by the Paphos traffic police.
