A 15,000 m³/day water desalination plant in Paphos has resumed operations
The Karamoondanis Group announced the resumption of the Modular Desalination Plant in Paphos after a devastating fire on December 6, 2024; reconstruction took nine months.
The plant has a daily capacity of 15,000 cubic meters of drinking water. The operations use technologies that ensure energy efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and stable water supply.
The resumption of operations strengthens the resilience of the Paphos region, providing water for households, agriculture, tourism, and public health. Opportunities for future technological upgrades are foreseen.
According to the group’s CEO, Stavros Karamondanis, the facility has “national importance” and confirms the group’s ability to deliver complex projects within tight deadlines. Commissioning the plant in nine months was made possible by internal organization, swift decision-making, and the group’s expertise in managing infrastructure projects.
The project was carried out in cooperation with the Water Development Department and the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
