In Paralimni–Deryneia, discussions were held on how to address chronic stormwater problems

A working meeting was held at the Paralimni–Deryneia municipality on the drainage of rainwater and flood protection in problematic areas. Participants stressed that, to launch the necessary projects, it is crucial to approve and “unfreeze” state funding of €12 million as soon as possible — this would allow tenders to be announced and implementation to begin.
The municipality уточнили that after the local government reform, responsibility for stormwater management was transferred to the Famagusta District Organization of Self-Government, and that city authorities are now in constant contact with it to accelerate solutions. The meeting reviewed the current situation and proposals for practical measures that can be implemented without delay to reduce flood risks.
