Stray Dog Devours 16 Chicks in a Larnaca Province Coop
A resident of Larnaca Province has reported a stray dog that attacked his chicken coop, consuming 16 chicks. Disturbing images of the aftermath were shared on social media by the man.
In an interview with OMEGAlive, a local from the village of Laiya explained that the stray dog entered through the roof. He stated that the overpopulation of stray animals has become a significant issue in the surrounding mountain villages.
"Hunters take dogs and train them to be hounds, then they abandon them in the mountains when they no longer perform their duties. As a result, the mountains are overrun with stray dogs," said the owner of the deceased chicks.
He also pointed out that the lack of inspections has allowed the situation to continue deteriorating. The man reported that he sent a video along with his complaint to the mayor of Lefkara.
