On the morning of January 29, staff of the Polis Chrysochous secondary school discovered serious damage to the building. Unknown individuals entered the school premises at night and carried out an act of vandalism.

Preliminary data indicate that the perpetrators broke into one of the rooms where they found a bunch of keys. Using them, several classrooms and staff rooms were opened. Inside the rooms, furniture and equipment were damaged, and the walls of several classrooms were covered with thrown eggs.

The greatest damage was recorded in the teachers’ rooms and common areas of the school. Sanitary facilities for teachers — both male and female toilets — were also damaged.

The school administration immediately contacted the police. Law enforcement officers inspected the building and began collecting evidence to identify those involved in the incident.

School staff and members of the school board started cleaning and restoring the premises early in the morning so that the educational process could continue without disruption.
