In Strovolos, two illegal grooms were detained while attempting to apply for marriage registration

An unusual incident occurred at the Strovolos municipality on 19 November. Two couples — grooms from Cameroon and brides from Pakistan and Latvia — came to the town hall to submit applications for a civil marriage.
During the document check, municipal employees discovered that both grooms were staying in Cyprus illegally. The information was immediately forwarded to the authorities.
Migration officers detained the men in a park near the town hall, where they, together with guests — about ten people, including minors — were celebrating the upcoming wedding.
Both men will be deported in accordance with immigration laws.
