On the night of September 8, a series of vandal attacks occurred at four schools in West Limassol; in one incident, a security guard sustained facial injuries after incendiary bottles and gas canisters were thrown, reported the head of a private security company, Christos Fotiou.

According to Fotiou, attacks and acts of vandalism have become a daily occurrence: guards are systematically targeted with thrown stones, flash-bang devices, and arson. A severe incident took place in one of the schoolyards, where attackers threw bottles with flammable liquid onto the artificial turf; the guard extinguished the fire but was attacked again outside the school grounds and injured in the face.

The incidents were recorded at the following schools: 3rd Ipsona Primary School, Ipsona Gymnasium, Kolossi Lyceum, and Episkopi Gymnasium. According to Fotiou, the attackers are mostly minors aged 15–17, often moving on motorcycles without license plates or in cars reported as faulty. He also noted that police appear on-site, but in his opinion, inspections and results are insufficient.

For parents and school staff, this increases the risk to children and personnel; the head of security called for increased patrolling and more active checks by law enforcement. While awaiting action from authorities, school administrations are advised to review access control measures and coordinate steps with the police.
