Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus to Allocate Over €200 Million to Address Water Supply Issues
The authorities of the Republic of Cyprus will allocate more than €200 million over the next three years to address water supply problems, reports Fileleftheros.
The funds are intended for the repair and maintenance of dams, the creation of stationary and mobile desalination plants, and the implementation of water management reforms. The financing is part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The Council of Ministers of Cyprus is expected to approve an action plan for water management reform in the coming days. The plan aims to eliminate structural deficiencies in management, improve efficiency, and enhance the sustainability of the water infrastructure.
A separate tender is planned for the Limassol and Famagusta regions for the construction of a stationary desalination plant using renewable energy sources, with the facility scheduled to launch by 2029.
