Cat Bibi goes missing during transport from Larnaca
A serious incident occurred on March 28 during the transportation of an animal from Larnaca airport abroad with a layover in Athens. A cat named Bibi went missing during transport.
According to the Cyprus Green Party, the cat was in an IATA-standard certified crate, which was securely closed and checked before unloading. Two cats were being transported in the container, but only one was handed over upon arrival at the destination.
Bibi is a male, partially blind in one eye.
It is currently unknown exactly where the cat might have disappeared. The main locations of possible loss are cited as:
• Larnaca Airport
• Athens Airport
Environmentalists note that this is not the first such case. In September 2025, a cat named Mika disappeared under similar circumstances at Larnaca Airport and was only found nine days later.
Activists are calling on all services and companies involved in the transport to conduct a thorough investigation and assist in the search for the animal. According to available information, the search has already begun.
Anyone who may have seen the cat in the Larnaca Airport area is asked to report it urgently.
