Drivers Urged to Be Cautious as Ice Forms on Troodos Mountain Roads
Drivers heading to the Troodos mountains on Friday morning are being warned about dangerous icy conditions caused by overnight frost. Temperatures dropped to –4°C overnight, leading to slippery roads in the area. Authorities are urging motorists to drive with extreme caution.
According to a statement from the police, as of the morning of March 21, deteriorating road conditions have been reported on several mountain routes due to adverse weather conditions.
As a safety measure, the following roads are only open to four-wheel-drive vehicles or cars equipped with snow chains:
- Platres – Troodos
- Karvouna – Troodos
- Prodromos – Troodos
- Pedoulas – Prodromos
- Kakopetria – Pedoulas
Elsewhere, no major disruptions have been reported on highways or roads in urban areas. However, police are urging all drivers to stay alert, follow traffic regulations, and pay close attention to road signs and warnings to prevent accidents.
