In five years, foreigners submitted nearly 15,000 applications to purchase property in Cyprus
In the Republic of Cyprus, over the past five years, the highest number of applications for the purchase of real estate by foreigners was submitted in Paphos, Limassol, and Larnaca. This was announced by Minister of the Interior Konstantinos Ioannou in parliament, responding to a question from MP N. Georgiou.
According to the ministry, the total number of applications from citizens of third countries, i.e., states outside the European Union, amounted to 14,978. The highest activity was recorded in Paphos — 5,477 applications. Limassol received 4,316 applications, Larnaca — 3,479, Nicosia — 886, and the Famagusta region — 816.
The average processing time for such applications ranges from one to two months. However, as the minister clarified, the process may take longer. Delays occur due to heavy workload of the relevant services, the need for consultations with other departments, or requests for additional documents from applicants.
According to official statistics, as of July 7, 2025, more than 53,000 property transfer transactions to foreign citizens were registered in Cyprus. The largest number of transactions was in Paphos — about 20.8 thousand. Limassol registered 17.1 thousand, Larnaca — about 9.2 thousand, Famagusta — 3.5 thousand, and Nicosia — 2.6 thousand.
Thus, Cyprus remains an attractive destination for foreign investors and property buyers. The regions of Paphos, Limassol, and Larnaca remain particularly in demand, concentrating the main supply and high demand.
