Over the Weekend, 28 Illegal Immigrants Caught in Three Provinces of Cyprus
During the past weekend, authorities in three provinces of the Republic of Cyprus apprehended 28 illegal immigrants. Special operations were conducted in Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos.
According to the police, the Immigration and Foreigners Service conducted a coordinated operation on Sunday to combat illegal employment and identify foreign nationals living illegally in Cyprus. They focused particularly on areas within Nicosia's walls.
In Nicosia, 11 foreigners were arrested for illegal residence, and 12 others were detained for offenses related to illegal employment. In addition, four individuals were arrested for illegal residence in Limassol, and one in Paphos.
