Film “Cyprus Ballad” About Turkish-Cypriot Struggle to Be Released on February 27

The feature film “Cyprus Ballad” (Kıbrıs Türküsü), dedicated to the Turkish-Cypriot people's struggle for survival from 1957 to 1974, will premiere on February 27. A significant part of the filming took place in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The producer of the film is Koşkun Özer (Lacivert Media), with the script and direction by Özer Feyzioğlu. The film depicts the repression faced by the Turkish-Cypriot community, their resistance to violence, and the difficult path to freedom against the backdrop of historical events.
The film is shot in a cinematic style based on real historical facts and complemented by powerful human stories, reflecting the tragedies of civilians whose lives were shattered by war. The premiere will take place in cinemas across Turkey, with a gala screening also planned in Northern Cyprus.
The leading roles are played by Emre Bey and Almila Ada. Their characters are individuals who, amid escalating attacks by the Greek terrorist organization EOKA, struggle to survive and defend their homeland. The acting aims to convey the era’s atmosphere and the depth of the suffering endured.
According to producer Koşkun Özer, the film is not just a work of art but a project to preserve historical memory for future generations. Director Özer Feyzioğlu emphasizes national values and the tragic fate of children and civilians — the most defenseless witnesses of war.
