Bandabulya Project Dedicated to Female Entrepreneurship Unveiled in Girne
The Municipality of Girne, in collaboration with the Women Entrepreneurs Cooperative and the Girne Working Women's Cooperative, presented the Girne Bandabulya project. The presentation took place at the historic Bandabulya market as part of the events for International Working Women's Day on March 8.
According to Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul, the project aims to restore Bandabulya's role as a vital center of urban life and transform it into a space for production, cooperation, and the support of female labor. He emphasized that the development of the city center should primarily focus on local residents and then attract tourists.
İçim Çağıner Kavuklu, Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs Association, noted that Bandabulya holds special significance for the city's historical memory and symbolizes culture and trust within society.
The project plans to establish a Cypriot-Turkish gastronomy house, featuring traditional dishes, local produce, and handmade crafts. The space will include a kitchen, a product sales area, and zones for events and meetings.
Following its opening, Bandabulya is expected to become a new cultural and tourist hub for Girne, attracting approximately 50,000 visitors per year.
