Turkish Navy Ships to Visit TRNC Ports for May 19 Celebrations
To mark Atatürk Memorial, Youth and Sports Day on May 19, vessels from the Turkish Naval Forces Command will be visiting ports across the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). A submarine and a patrol boat will dock in Kyrenia and Famagusta, respectively.
The TCG Doğanay (S-351) submarine will be open to visitors at Kyrenia Port between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and again from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Meanwhile, the TCG Karataş (P-1212) patrol boat will welcome visitors at Famagusta Port during the same time slots.
It’s important to note that during previous visits by Turkish naval ships to Northern Cyprus, entry was restricted to TRNC citizens only. While this isn’t an officially stated rule, it’s worth keeping in mind when planning your visit.
These ship visits are part of a wider program of events taking place across Northern Cyprus between May 13 and 19, commemorating the 106th anniversary of the start of the Turkish War of Independence, which began with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s historic landing in Samsun.
