KTAMS reports: Living wage for a family of four rises to 33,356 TL in August 2025

The Cyprus Public Servants Union (KTAMS) published new data on the minimum amount required to provide a balanced diet for a family of four in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as of August 2025. According to the data, the "hunger threshold" reached 33,356 Turkish Lira, an increase of 2,759 TL compared to July, when the figure was 30,597 TL.
The increase is about 9% compared to the previous month. The rise is attributed to higher food prices and the cost of essential goods. For calculations, KTAMS uses the TRNC Ministry of Health recommendations for a healthy diet, as well as official data from the Statistics Institute on average food prices.
It is worth recalling that in December 2024, KTAMS estimated the minimum expenses for a family of four at 27,567 TL. Thus, over eight months, the living wage has increased by almost 6,000 TL.
