North Cyprus Marks Medicine Day
March 14 is celebrated as Medicine Day in North Cyprus, with President Ersin Tatar and Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek sharing messages to honor healthcare professionals.
In his statement, the Turkish Cypriot leader expressed his gratitude to all doctors and medical staff who have devoted their lives to healthcare.
"A government's primary goal should be to provide its citizens with the social, economic, and cultural conditions needed to live a healthy and fulfilling life. In this regard, the significant investments made in our country's healthcare sector in recent years are a safeguard for public health in the future," Tatar stated.
He also praised the dedication of Turkish medical workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating earthquake on February 6.
"Healthcare professionals, to whom we entrust our lives, hold a special place in our hearts," he emphasized.
Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek echoed these sentiments, stressing that health is a fundamental human right and one of life's greatest values.
"Our doctors and all healthcare professionals fulfill this sacred duty with immense dedication, working tirelessly day and night to protect and improve human life. Their invaluable efforts are the foundation of a healthy society. On this important day, I sincerely congratulate all our medical professionals on Medicine Day, March 14," the minister stated.
March 14 is observed as National Medicine Day (Tıp Bayramı) in Turkey, commemorating the opening of the first European-style medical school in the Ottoman Empire in 1827.
