Three men sentenced to 9 months in prison for drugs in Northern Cyprus
A court in Northern Cyprus has passed sentence on three men accused of drug possession.
Lefkoşa Ağır Ceza Mahkemesi found Ulaş Kütükçüler, Can Cem İyidoğan, and Muhammed Civan Sertkaya guilty of possessing 5 grams of cocaine and 15 grams of cannabis.
The court noted that while the quantity of drugs was small, cocaine is considered one of the most dangerous narcotic substances, thus the crime was treated as serious.
All three defendants pleaded guilty, which the court took into account as a mitigating circumstance. Consequently, each was sentenced to 9 months in prison.
The drugs were discovered in September 2025 during a house search in the Minareliköy area. Later, the third suspect was detained in Kyrenia.
