In Northern Cyprus, teachers are on strike again. List of schools
The Cyprus-Turkish Union of Middle School Teachers (KTOEÖS) will hold strikes today in 7 schools. The protests will take place in the second half of the day.
Teachers will be on strike at Bayraktar Middle School, Irsen Küçük Middle School, Degirmenlik Middle School, Hala Sultan Theological College, Esin Leman Middle School, Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School, and 20th of July Scientific High School.
During the protest, the union will address education-related issues. As part of the event, a press conference will be held at Hala Sultan Theological College, where educators will present the reasons for the ongoing strike and the problems they have identified in schools and the education system.
It's worth noting that teacher strikes have been occurring regularly in Northern Cyprus since the beginning of the academic year.
Among the teachers' grievances against the Ministry of Education are a shortage of teachers and administrative staff, untimely removal of garbage containers, and a large number of students who do not speak the Turkish language.
It is also claimed that schools were transitioned to "full-day" education without proper preparation and organization, and the buildings of educational institutions are at risk of earthquakes.
