Daylight Saving Time Introduced in Northern Cyprus: Clocks Moved One Hour Forward
Today, March 29, 2026, Northern Cyprus began its annual practice of transitioning to daylight saving time: according to the 2026 Daylight Saving Time decree published in the Official Gazette, clocks were moved one hour forward at 03:00.
The purpose of the measure, as stated in the document, is more efficient use of daylight and energy savings. The publication notes that the time change took effect immediately and will remain in force throughout the season.
The duration of daylight saving time is set until Sunday, October 25, 2026, when, at the end of the period, clocks will be returned to standard time. The transition was carried out centrally and applies to all institutions subject to regional time regulation.
Residents and organizations in Northern Cyprus are advised to take the time change into account when planning travel, work, and official events for the coming months, as the change is effective from the specified hour and will last until the end of October.
