Another Body Washed Ashore in Northern Cyprus
Another decomposed body has been discovered washed ashore in Northern Cyprus. This marks the sixth body found since the beginning of the year.
The human body, whose gender and identity could not be determined, was found yesterday around 14:00 on the beach in the Inchiler area on the northern coast of Dipkarpaz. The body was partially decomposed. The police stated that the identity of the deceased person has not yet been established. The investigation is ongoing.
It is worth noting that with the discovery of this new body, the total number of bodies found on the shores since January has reached six. Earlier, male and female bodies were found on beaches in Dipkarpaz, and another male body was found in the Bafra hotel area. Additionally, last week, two lifeless bodies washed ashore from the sea were discovered on the coast of Chatalkoy within a single day.
In all cases, identifying the bodies has proven impossible since none of them had any identification documents on them, and due to their advanced decomposition.
Melisa Turkkala, a legal consultant for the Refugee Rights Association, speculates that the deceased were likely Syrian refugees, as the clothing they wore was manufactured in Syria.
