On October 4, 2025, in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus, three Georgian nationals were arrested during a police operation on suspicion of drug trafficking and using forged documents.

According to Turkish Cypriot media reports, the raid was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics and Smuggling Department. Searches of two rented houses and a car led to the discovery of significant amounts of narcotic substances and traces of drug use.

In the car, officers seized 165 milligrams of a substance resembling “piyatel.” One of the houses contained 77 milligrams of cocaine and a spoon with drug residues. In the second residence, police found over 4 grams of “piyatel,” traces of cannabis, and precision scales. The investigation revealed the use of fake German IDs and rental agreements signed with forged documents.

The Kyrenia court ordered the suspects to remain in custody for up to 60 days. Police said one of the detainees was wanted by Interpol in connection with an armed robbery committed in Germany.
