Car Overturns on Nicosia-Famagusta Highway: One Dead
The TRNC police are investigating the details of a tragic accident that occurred on the Nicosia-Famagusta highway, leaving one person dead. The identity of the driver remains unknown.
According to the police press office, the incident happened in the early hours of the morning, around 3:40 AM. Initial reports indicate that the car was speeding. Near MFC Motors in Demirhan, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn several times before finally landing upright.
The accident claimed the life of 27-year-old Furkat Bazarov, a resident of Cihangir, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, 27-year-old Abdullah Pirliyev, sustained minor injuries. Medical tests revealed that Pirliyev was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Despite this, it is still unclear who was driving the car when the accident occurred. The investigation is ongoing.
So far, 2025 has seen four fatalities on Northern Cyprus roads.
