Dog Dies in Northern Cyprus After Poisoning During Mountain Walk
Northern Cyprus resident Süleyman Tarık Sakallı reported the death of his dog, Keira, who he says ingested a toxic substance during a nature walk.
The man shared on social media that the dog died during a mountain hike. According to him, the animal found and ate an unknown substance that he had not noticed. Shortly after, the dog showed signs of poisoning and passed away.
Sakallı noted that Keira joined his family after his mother's death and became an important part of their lives.
He also drew attention to the issue of animal poisoning on the island. He stated that poison is sometimes used in rural areas for animal control, while in cities, conflicts often arise over stray dogs.
The man stated that he intends to seek an investigation into the incident and hold those responsible accountable.
