NEU Ranked Among the Top Universities in the World for Fundamental Sciences
Near East University (NEU) has been ranked among the top 400 universities globally in the field of fundamental sciences, according to the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024 published by Shanghai Ranking. NEU shares the top spot with Boğaziçi University and Bilkent University, and it also ranks among the top three universities in Turkey in the area of "Mathematics."
NEU is the only university from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to be included in this prestigious ranking. In the Shanghai Ranking, which evaluates universities based on academic performance, NEU secured a position within the 401-500 range.
Professor İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at NEU, emphasized that the university had previously been ranked among the world’s best universities by Times Higher Education and other major academic ranking organizations.
“We are incredibly proud that our scientific productivity and academic excellence have been recognized at an international level. Our national and international collaborations are vital in reflecting the vision of NEU. I would like to thank all our faculty members who have contributed to this success,” said Professor Günsel.
The Rector of NEU, Tamer Şanlıdağ, also pointed out that their success in fundamental sciences in the Shanghai Ranking is a direct result of the university's research capabilities and high-quality academic work.
