The producer of the leguminous crop is the company Şevket Hancerli Ticaret Ltd. Before sending the first batch of local chickpeas to Turkey, the plant for its production was visited by the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the TRNC, Hüseyin Çavuş, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu, and the President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Serkan Kayalar.
The first batch of exported chickpeas was dispatched from the Akdeniz Aegean plant located in the Organized Industrial Zone of Nicosia.
