Operation "Hurricane": Police Seize Nearly 6.5 Kilograms of Drugs in Northern Cyprus
Police in Northern Cyprus have seized almost 6.5 kilograms of drugs during Operation "Hurricane", resulting in the arrest of three suspects.
According to the police press office, the Anti-Narcotics and Smuggling Division conducted the operation in Karşıyaka. Officers confiscated 6.33 kilograms of cannabis, precision scales, and cash totaling 64,085 TL, $540, €4,675, and £1,560, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
Additionally, two separate operations took place on the North Nicosia Ring Road and Şehit Nahit Hasan Street in Kyrenia, as well as during a routine traffic stop on the Nicosia–Famagusta highway. These resulted in the seizure of 23 grams of cannabis, 7 grams of cocaine, and 4.5 grams of methamphetamine. Police also discovered two glass pipes with drug residue and 800 TL in cash, suspected to be linked to drug sales.
In total, five more individuals were arrested during these additional operations, bringing the total number of detentions in 24 hours to eight.
