The inflation rate for March has been announced in Northern Cyprus
The Statistical Institute of Northern Cyprus reported inflation in March at 6.91 percent. The annual inflation rate is 94.45 percent.
According to the published data, compared to the previous month, the overall consumer price index changed by 6.91 percent, compared to December 2023, the increase was 16.11 percent, and compared to the same month of the previous year, it was 94.45 percent.
The highest increase compared to the previous month was recorded in the category of "clothing and footwear" - 18.90 percent. In the category of "furniture, household appliances, and home maintenance services," the increase was 12.61 percent, "entertainment and culture" - 10.70 percent, and "housing, water supply, electricity, gas, and other fuels" - 9.08 percent. The cost of communication increased by 6.51 percent.
In the category of restaurants and hotels, there was an increase of 6.31 percent, in the group of various goods and services - 6.25 percent, and in the category of "healthcare" - 6.11 percent. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products suffered the least, with an increase of 2.93 percent, as well as the "education" category, with 2.52 percent.
Compared to the previous month, prices increased for 602 items included in the index, while 64 items became cheaper.
The most significant increases were seen in DVD players - by 200.33 percent, football match tickets - by 123.61 percent, and melons - by 123.11 percent. Prices decreased for pumpkins (56.19 percent), fresh beans (44.74 percent), and strawberries - by 32.43 percent.
