Pegasus Marks 20 Years of Scheduled Flights to Northern Cyprus

Pegasus Airlines celebrated the 20th anniversary of launching scheduled flights to Northern Cyprus. The ceremony took place in Lefkoşa with the participation of President Tufan Erhürman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Fikri Ataoğlu, Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, and representatives of the business community.
During the evening, it was emphasized that Pegasus plays a key role in the country’s air connectivity with the outside world. According to the figures presented, the airline holds about 57% of the market at Ercan Airport in terms of seat capacity and is the largest carrier on this route. Over 20 years, the airline has transported more than 28 million passengers between Turkey and Northern Cyprus.
Pegasus operates flights to Ercan from 11 destinations and remains one of the most active airlines in both the summer and winter schedules. It was also noted that basing aircraft in Ercan reflects the company’s long-term strategy in the region.
Pegasus CEO Güliz Öztürk stated that Northern Cyprus holds strategic importance for the company. According to her, the carrier views its operations not only as business, but also as a contribution to the development of tourism, trade, and employment in the country.
