Suspicious package by the road in Kalkanlı led police to a series of arrests in a drug case

In the Kalkanlı area, the Güzelyurt police carried out a large-scale operation regarding illegal drug trafficking after a suspicious package was discovered, thrown from a car.

According to the police, the incident occurred on February 6, 2026, around 00:20 on Laden Sokak in Kalkanlı. Authorities received a report that an unknown package had been thrown from a moving car. Upon inspection of the scene, it was established that the package contained about 3 grams of cannabis.

During further investigation, U.Q. (33 years old) and A.R.P. (25 years old) were arrested. Searches were conducted at their residences:

• In U.Q.'s house in Güzelyurt, foil with traces of narcotics, 7 cigarette butts with drug residue, and tobacco mixed with cannabis were found.
• In A.R.P.'s house in Kalkanlı, cigarette butts with drug residue were found. Additionally, in the rooms of T.A.F.A. (26 years old) and G.K. (23 years old), who lived at the same address, about 4 grams of cannabis, a grinder, tobacco with narcotic substances, a jar and ashtrays with residue, and 31 cigarette butts containing drugs were seized.

On the same day around 12:30 on Manisa Bulvarı, traffic police stopped a car driven by A.O.O. (28 years old), whose behavior aroused suspicion. During a search of the car, about 2 grams of a substance presumed to be a drug were seized.

The investigation continues, with police examining possible links between the detainees and the scale of illegal activity.
