Tourist Arrested at Ercan Airport with Drugs Hidden in His Underwear
A tourist arriving at Ercan Airport was arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs hidden in his underwear. The man has already been brought before the court on charges of illegal drug importation and possession.
During the court proceedings, a police officer revealed that the defendant, Mehmet Öztunç, had come to Northern Cyprus as a tourist. He was arrested on April 26 at 4:50 PM by officers from the Narcotics and Smuggling Control Unit.
A search of his person and belongings uncovered a small plastic bag wrapped in toilet paper inside his underwear, containing around 5 grams of a substance believed to be narcotics. The suspect was caught in the act and immediately taken into custody.
The man has confessed to the crime, and the substance found on him has been sent for forensic analysis. The police have requested that he remain in custody for further investigation. The judge agreed and ordered him to be held for three days.
