In Girne, a fine equal to three minimum wages was imposed for illegal tree cutting and lighting a fire in the forest

In Çatalköy, a violation of environmental protection rules was identified: a local resident cut down a tree without permission, used a chainsaw, and lit a fire in a forest area. According to the Forestry Department, a report was drawn up under forestry legislation, and the offender was fined an amount equal to three minimum wages.
The department emphasizes that inspections will continue, as such actions directly increase the risk of forest fires. Citizens are asked to report similar cases to the hotline 177.
