Car Set on Fire in Famagusta: Suspect Detained, Drugs Found in His Possession

In the village of Paşaköy, it was revealed that a fire in a parked car was an act of intentional arson. One person has been detained in connection with the case, and narcotic substances were also found on his person.
According to the police, on February 14, 2026, around 04:00, a report was received regarding a fire in a vehicle with registration number MK 134, used by Enes Şahan. Initially, it was assumed that the cause of the fire could have been a short circuit in the starter. The fire was extinguished by firefighters, and the vehicle sustained material damage.
However, further investigation established that it was a case of arson. According to the investigation, S.Ö. (40 years old) intentionally poured a flammable substance over the hood and windshield wipers of the car and set them on fire, causing damage to the vehicle.
The suspect was detained. During a personal search, officers found one hand-rolled cigarette containing a substance suspected to be synthetic cannabinoid, as well as two pieces of paper with a similar substance. The items found were seized as evidence.
The investigation is ongoing.
