A city museum will be established in Famagusta
In the fortress city of Famagusta, a City Museum will be created. The corresponding protocol was signed between the municipal authorities and the Association of City Museums.
According to the municipality's statement, the protocol was signed by the Mayor of Famagusta, Suleyman Uluchay, and the President of the Famagusta Association of City Museums, Ugur Ulas Dagli. Members of the association's board were also present at the ceremony.
The agreement entails the transformation of the toothed walls under numbers 4 and 6 near the Akkule Gate, which have been transferred for use by the Famagusta municipality, into a city museum.
The City Museum project is conceived as a modern exhibition hall that will convey the history of Famagusta and also serve as a historical and cultural monument for the city.
In his speech at the ceremony, the Mayor of Famagusta noted that there are examples in the city where public spaces are used in ways that the authorities do not approve of, emphasizing that places provided to entities for public purposes should not be used for any other purposes.
