In Kyrenia, a foreign citizen, Rabih Bassam Hijazi, was detained following a complaint. According to the police, he was engaged in real estate activities without authorization. The day before, he appeared in court and was released on bail.

As reported by a TRNC Police officer in court, the investigation was initiated after the Real Estate Union filed a complaint about the suspect's illegal activities.

During the verification, it was established that Hijazi conducted real estate activities through a company located on Şehit Mehmet Mustafa Sokak in Kyrenia. He lacked the mandatory registration, permits, and annual license required to operate in the real estate sector.

The police also stated that the suspect had previously been detained on a similar charge, and that case was also handled with bail. This fact was taken into account in the current investigation.

It is noted that Hijazi holds citizenship of Lebanon and Germany. The investigation indicated that the main part of the inquiry, which the suspect could have influenced, has been completed, and therefore bail was requested.

The court ruled:

• to prohibit the suspect from leaving the country,

• to deposit 100 thousand Turkish lira in cash as bail,

• to provide two guarantors, each of whom signed a guarantee obligation for 750 thousand Turkish lira.

The investigation into the case continues.
