In Kyrenia, an unlicensed driver ran over a police officer
In Kyrenia, an unlicensed driver intentionally ran over a police officer who was trying to stop him during traffic control. The man was promptly apprehended.
According to the police press service, the incident occurred late in the evening, around 23:45 on Tugku Street in Kyrenia. During traffic control conducted by the police department's road teams, the driver of the car, who was being signaled to stop for inspection, intentionally ran over the police officer in an attempt to flee.
As a result of the car hitting him, the law enforcement officer fell onto the road and sustained injuries.
The driver of the car was soon located and arrested in Kyrenia. It was determined during the investigation that he was driving without a driver's license.
The injured police officer was discharged from Akcicek Hospital in Kyrenia after receiving treatment. The investigation is ongoing.
