In Nicosia, Lev Arutyunyan was arrested with 118.14 g of cocaine; he confessed to importing 3.5 kg of cannabis and 720 g of cocaine
In Nicosia, on October 17, during an operation, Lev Arutyunyan was detained: during a search of a car with license plate PKE 660 on the Haspolat–Tashkent highway at 09:15, officers of the Department for Combating Narcotics and Preventing Smuggling discovered and seized approximately 118 grams and 140 milligrams of cocaine.
Police officer Ozan Özder informed the court that the substance was found in ten separate polyethylene bags and was seized as material evidence; a small garden scoop used to conceal the drug was also confiscated. The detainee admitted his guilt and provided explanations in the case.
According to police data, during the investigation it was determined that from September 1 to October 17 the accused imported from the south to Northern Cyprus a total of 3 kilograms and 500 grams of cannabis and 720 grams of cocaine, placing batches in various locations across the TRNC for profit. Police noted that he entered the country on a visitor permit and had no permanent ties in the TRNC; the investigation is partially completed, and detention is being requested.
Judge Şevket Gazi, after reviewing the materials, ordered the accused to be placed in pre-trial detention for a period not exceeding two months.
