Man detained in Lefkoşa with approximately 3g of suspected cocaine
In Northern Cyprus, in Lefkoşa (Demirhan area) on April 24, 2026, police stopped a vehicle with plate number GC 959 and detained the man inside. According to police data, the incident occurred around 15:00.
During a personal search of the detainee, identified by the initials O.K., one transparent bag was found in his shorts pocket, containing five separate transparent plastic bags with a substance resembling cocaine, weighing approximately 3 grams in total. The arrest was made while attempting to apprehend the person at the scene.
Police seized the discovered bags as evidence and will send them for forensic analysis. During the investigation, law enforcement officers intend to establish from whom and how the detainee obtained these substances, as well as to verify and compare his testimony. At the request of the investigation, Judge Jale Ergüden ordered the suspect to remain in police custody for three days for further investigation.
For residents: law enforcement agencies continue operations to suppress illegal drug trafficking; within the framework of the investigation, additional detentions and forensic results are expected to clarify the circumstances of the case.
