Controlled explosions to take place in Akrotiri area — warning from British Bases

The British Sovereign Base Areas authorities in Cyprus have announced planned controlled explosions in the Akrotiri area between May 18 and May 20. The works will be carried out as part of ongoing operational activities.
According to a statement from the UK Sovereign Base Areas Administration in Cyprus, low-power explosions are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 09:00 to 17:00.
The report emphasizes that these activities are part of standard technical operations and pose no danger to the public. Authorities note that while explosion sounds may be heard in surrounding areas, there is no cause for concern.
Residents of the region have been informed in advance and thanked for their understanding.
It is noted that such works are regularly conducted on base territory and are related to infrastructure maintenance and facility security.
