Heavy Weaponry Exercises to Be Held in Karpaşa – Özhan – Kılıçarslan Area
The TRNC Security Forces Command has announced the conduct of firing exercises using heavy weaponry in the Karpaşa – Özhan – Kılıçarslan areas (Girne district).
According to a statement from the Girne District Administration, the exercises will take place from today until Friday inclusive, daily from 07:00 to 19:00.
Hazardous areas have been designated for the firing period:
- From the West: a line east of the Yuvacık area (500 m southeast) – Kalkanlı (700 m east) – Karpaşa.
- From the North: a line south of the area passing 700 m south of the villages of Karpaşa – Özhan – Kılıçarslan.
To ensure the safety of citizens' lives and property during the specified hours, it is prohibited to:
- graze livestock,
- harvest olives, carob, and other agricultural crops,
- engage in agricultural activities,
- fish,
- walk or walk dogs,
- enter the territory for any other reasons.
It is also necessary to remove water trailers and other objects that may obstruct potential helicopter take-offs and landings.
Authorities urge citizens to strictly observe the restrictions until the exercises are completed.
