Yeniboğaziçi municipal council member Koray Diran from the Communal Democracy Party (TDP) stated that long-standing disputes over the local campsite and caravan park remain unresolved, and the situation is not developing in the public interest.

In a written statement, the politician noted that the problem has persisted for many years and arose from decisions made by previous administrations. According to him, this is not about a single error but systemic management issues accumulated over the years.

Diran also pointed out serious infrastructure deficiencies at the campsite. He stated that there is no proper sewage system on the territory, causing wastewater to flow uncontrollably.

"There is no infrastructure in the campsite. Wastewater flows without control, and people are trying to solve the problem on their own. There is a risk that the pollution will reach the sea," he warned.

According to the deputy, the situation poses a threat not only to the campsite itself but also to the environment and the health of residents.

Furthermore, Diran stated that the entity managing the campsite has effectively not been audited for many years. He claims that financial reports for the facility have not been provided to the municipal council for three years, despite numerous requests.

It is also reported that dozens of caravans in the area have been sealed, and some residents have taken the matter to court.

The politician recalled that back in 2018, a protocol was signed between the municipality and the KAMP-DER association; however, according to him, the agreements reached were never implemented.

In his statement, Diran also addressed state structures, questioning why they are not intervening. He mentioned the Department of Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Forestry Department, the Ministry of Tourism, and the local administration.

According to the politician, this is not just a dispute over a caravan park, but a broader issue of public land management, environmental protection, and legal compliance.
