Başbakanlık officially denied reports claiming that Turkish citizens would allegedly be granted TRNC citizenship in exchange for purchasing real estate worth $150,000.

In a written statement, it was emphasized that such publications appearing in some media outlets are inaccurate and misleading to the public. The government noted that the Council of Ministers has no decisions, initiatives, or agenda regarding granting citizenship in exchange for property investment.

It was also noted that even the head of the Turkish-Cypriot Contractors Association, Cafer Gürcafer, whose words were cited by the media, later confirmed the absence of any official requests or prepared initiatives on this matter.

The government stressed that consultations with economic and industry organizations are indeed ongoing — in the context of pressure on the TRNC economy from the Greek-Cypriot administration. However, none of the discussed ideas include a “citizenship in exchange for property” scheme.

It was also specifically noted that in a recent meeting of economic organizations with the participation of Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, such proposals were not raised.
