Several road accidents occurred in Northern Cyprus over the weekend, some involving drunk drivers

The police of Northern Cyprus published information on road traffic accidents that occurred on February 7 and 8 in various regions of the country. In several cases, drivers were under the influence of alcohol, and some accidents resulted in injuries.

Gönyeli:

On February 7 at around 15:00 on Cebeci Street, a 37-year-old driver, in a state of severe alcohol intoxication (277 mg), was exiting a parking area onto the main road and negligently collided with an oncoming vehicle. There were no injuries. The driver was detained for drunk driving and causing an accident.

Vadili:

On the same day at around 18:30 on Vatan Street, a 41-year-old female driver lost control of her vehicle, crossed into the oncoming lane, and collided with another vehicle. Both drivers were taken to Famagusta State Hospital. One was discharged after examination, while the woman was diagnosed with a fractured sternum and kept under medical observation.

İskele:

On February 8 at around 02:00, a 36-year-old driver, under the influence of alcohol (158 mg), lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a parked car. As a result of the impact, three additional parked vehicles were damaged. The driver was detained, and the investigation is ongoing.

Girne, Bedreddin Demirel Street:

At around 04:00, a driver reversing out of a restaurant parking area collided with a vehicle traveling on the main road. The second driver was under the influence of alcohol (57 mg). There were no injuries, and legal proceedings were initiated against both drivers.

Girne, Beşparmaklar Street:

At around 05:30, a 30-year-old driver, under the influence of alcohol (87 mg), lost control at a roundabout, hit a curb, and then crashed into a concrete wall. He was taken to Dr. Akçiçek Hospital, where he was kept under observation.

The police reported that investigations into all cases are ongoing.
