Cyprus Police Launch Summer Road Safety Campaign
The Cyprus Police have launched a major road safety campaign running from June 1 to September 30, aimed at reducing traffic accidents and raising awareness among road users. The initiative includes intensified roadside checks, which are already underway across the island.
Police officers will be focusing on several key areas:
– Ensuring motorcyclists are wearing helmets
– Monitoring speed limits
– Checking whether riders are staying within permitted traffic zones
Authorities are reminding the public that mopeds, scooters, and bicycles are not allowed on highways, and anyone caught violating this rule may face penalties.
Drivers of cars and other vehicles are also being urged to regularly check their mirrors and stay alert to vulnerable road users—especially motorcyclists, cyclists, and scooter riders.
The campaign is part of a broader effort to prevent accidents and save lives, particularly during the busy summer season when traffic volumes increase.
