Cat Abduction Allegations in Limassol Unfounded
Reports that a Limassol resident was allegedly kidnapping cats and keeping them in improper conditions have not been confirmed. Following a formal complaint, representatives from the Cat Protection and Welfare Society (SPWG) conducted an inspection of her residence.
The organization's president, Dinos Ayiomamitis, visited the woman's home without prior notice. According to him, there were many kittens in the house, but the living conditions met all requirements: they were provided with beds, bowls of food and water, toys, and a safe yard. Two members of the district committee also inspected the premises—no violations were found.
The complaints were triggered by reports of disappearing cats near a supermarket in Nicosia. Versions of animals possibly being taken abroad circulated on social media. The woman under suspicion explained that she took the kittens temporarily—for medical treatment or veterinary check-ups—after which she returned them.
