On August 19, 2025, the Department of Road Transport of the Republic of Cyprus announced the publication in the EU rapid alert system (Safety Gate) of a series of recalls of cars and commercial vehicles deemed potentially dangerous. The notifications were issued during the 33rd week of 2025.

Included in the list are models of several brands, including Peugeot (308, 208, 3008 and others), Lancia Ypsilon, DS (DS3 Crossback, DS4), Jeep Avenger, Opel/Vauxhall (Astra, Corsa, Mokka and others), Fiat (600, Grande Panda), Toyota/Lexus (Proace, Proace Verso, Corolla, RAV4, Yaris and others), VW Transporter, as well as heavy and agricultural machinery (Iveco, New Holland, Case, etc.). Each entry is linked to a Safety Gate notification number (e.g. SR/02928/25 and others).

The Department calls on manufacturers, dealers, and sellers who may have placed the mentioned vehicles on the Cypriot market to immediately notify the authorities. Owners are advised to contact the manufacturer or official representative for instructions, stop using recalled parts (if applicable), and, where possible, return them to the place of purchase.

If a manufacturer or dealer refuses to fulfill their obligations, consumers are advised to file a written complaint with the Consumer Protection Service via the website consumer.gov.cy. For further information, inquiries can be made to the Department of Road Transport.
