Dozens of winter swimmers celebrated Christmas by taking a dip in Kato Paphos
Dozens of locals on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, took part in the traditional Christmas swim at the municipal baths of Kato Paphos, plunging into the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, reports In-Cyprus.
The event took place at dawn under clear skies and calm seas after another cold snap. Participants, members of the Paphos Winter Swimmers Association, gathered early in the morning for a joint swim.
The traditional program included three parts: a collective plunge, exchanging Christmas greetings while in the water or on the shore, and a shared festive table set "right by the wave." Despite meteorologists’ warnings of an approaching storm front, association members continued the tradition.
Organizers note that the event is held annually and has become a well-established practice for the local community. For city residents, it serves as a reminder of the ongoing public traditions and the observed variability of weather conditions during this time of year.
