Flu outpaces COVID: interest in seasonal vaccination surges in Cyprus

This season in Cyprus, influenza vaccination is proceeding noticeably more actively than COVID-19 shots. According to the Ministry of Health, about 110,000 people — primarily from risk groups — have already received protection against seasonal flu. At the same time, interest in coronavirus vaccination remains low: since the start of the campaign, only about 3,800 residents have been vaccinated, roughly at last year’s level.
The ministry notes that the increase in flu vaccinations meets expectations for the end of December. At the same time, a seasonal rise in hospitalizations is being recorded, but intensive care units continue to operate as usual.
