Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides stated that Cyprus is not participating and does not intend to participate in any military operations on its territory.

The statement followed a drone incident around 00:03, where a UAV crashed on the grounds of military facilities at RAF Akrotiri, causing minor material damage.

According to Christodoulides, all competent units have been on high alert and in full operational readiness from the first moment. He also announced that he immediately convened the National Security Council to assess the situation, with consultations ongoing continuously.

The head of administration emphasized that he maintains constant contact with European leaders and heads of other states regarding developments in the region.

“The region we are in is characterized by high geopolitical instability and is experiencing an unprecedented crisis. I want to make it clear: our country is not involved in any military operation and has no intention of participating. We remain committed to our humanitarian role. We have always been part of the solution, not the problem, and we will continue to act with the same sense of responsibility. The security of our country and our citizens is our top priority, and we are taking all necessary steps,” he stated.

Authorities assured that the situation is under control and the safety of citizens remains the top priority.
