Christodoulides promotes Cyprus as a "gateway to Europe" during visit to India
The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, is continuing his official state visit to India, focusing on developing economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
On Thursday, the head of state will speak at the Cyprus-India Business Forum in Mumbai — India's financial center. The program also includes scheduled meetings with Indian entrepreneurs and investors to discuss trade, technology, shipping, and innovation.
Furthermore, the president will attend the opening of the Eurobank representative office in Mumbai and visit the Indian Stock Exchange. According to Cypriot government representatives, the visit aims to strengthen strategic ties with one of the world's largest economies.
The government of Cyprus emphasizes that the republic seeks to establish itself as a "reliable European gateway" for Indian business and investment, as well as to act as a partner in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Following the conclusion of the program in Mumbai, Nikos Christodoulides will travel to New Delhi. On Friday, talks are scheduled with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with a meeting with the President of India, who will host an official dinner in honor of the Cypriot leader.
Nicosia believes the visit could provide a new impetus to Cyprus-India relations amid strengthening economic and geopolitical ties between India and the European Union.
